This one caught rock fans by surprise. Music Radar shared their list of the top 10 best rock guitarists of 2022, which was voted for by readers. Taking the number one spot was Sophie Lloyd, who is best known as Machine Gun Kelly’s touring guitarist and her popular YouTube channel.
Sophie started up a YouTube channel in 2011 where she has covered many rock songs on guitar, and has gained a massive following over the years. She also posts covers on Instagram every Monday for her feature called “Metal Mondays”.
The guitar sensation was shocked by the win, here is what she had to say, “I was so honored to just be nominated on this list alongside some of my favorite guitarists, let alone win! It’s been such an incredible year and this rounds it off so amazingly. Also a massive thank you to all of my supporters, I’m so lucky to have such an incredible community behind me.”.
Lloyd has recently released a single called “Do or Die” with Nathan James (vocalist of British band Inglorious). They released a music video for the single, which you can watch below:
Other winners on the list included Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, Steve Vai, Zach Myers of Shinedown, and John Frusciante from Red Hot Chili Peppers. To check out the full list you can find it here.
