Metallica release new single “If Darkness Had a Son”

Metallica have released the third track from their upcoming album “72 Seasons”. The seven minute single is titled “If Darkness Had a Son” and follows the first two singles “Lux Æterna” and “Screaming Suicide”.

If you’ve been following the band on TikTok, you might have seen that they used the “duet” feature to give fans a teaser of some new music. The band also released the official music video to go along with the track which was directed by Tim Saccenti, who also directed the previous two music videos.

72 Seasons will be the band’s 11th studio album and follows their 2016 release of Hardwired… To Self Destruct. 72 Seasons will be release on April 14th, and the band states they will have some more surprises in store before then.

Fans who already preordered the album received the new single right to their inbox. You can preorder and presave the album here. You can listen to the new song here.

Metallica heads out on their M72 World tour this April kicking off in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Multiple artists will support the band depending on the date, such as Five Finger Death Punch, Mammoth WVH,  Ice Nine Kills, and Pantera.
